OCAD Visit #2 - February 27, 2008

- introduced Ryerson projects to the class
- explained brainstorming concepts
- examined possibilities of nodes, locations, and collaborations

Tech Things That Need to Be Done:
- Steve please communicate with Mike (I’m sorry if I have that name incorrect)
- need to work on technology, please communicate
- OCAD is using PIC AXE 28x1
- thinking of using MXP and PYTHON
- are we using iCHAT, SKYPE, or GoogleChat?
- a network connection needs to be set up for most of the rooms in OCAD
- a network connection needs to be set up between the schools
- OCAD or Ryerson’s firewall might be a problem
- Is there anything us Curators can do to help further this along? (psst… turns out Matt’s a techy, so he can probably help too!)

- Johanna will be joining us Thursday March 6th – the whole class has been invited to talk about projects on Tuesday and Thursday – they’re interested in seeing our prototypes.
Do this sound okay for all curatorial and staff?
- Matt will post directions for everyone.

OCAD Requests:
- Pictures of all spaces available
- need to know what we need from them
- size, placement (if they have special requests) etc.
- (not requested but noted) need to know how we’re going to do information on projects – are we doing artist statements? do we need descriptions? are we expecting web space from them? how abstract of a concept should things be? some are expecting to give explanations on things…etc.

OCAD has invited all of us back each week of classes. Their class runs from 11:30 until 2:30 on Wednesdays and though they realize that many of us won’t be available, it would still be good if we could have one person present every time that would be great.
(Mallory, me, can go again next week, but it’d be nice if someone else could come too!)

- OCAD did brainstorming and talking about sensors and circuits for the whole class and then they split into groups through a axis like our own, and brainstormed some more.
(the results of these brainstorms are posted on our forum).
