Symbol for logo
So I have been racking my brain to think of a symbol that might be something that could cover our title's theme
how about the orb?
"The visual symbolism of holding the world (in Latin orbis terrarum, the 'circle of countries', hence the word orb) in one's hand, or perhaps even more ominously under one's foot, was a clear message used since antiquity among pagans."
so that is one of my suggestions. i shall keep exploring the internet

Re: Symbol for logo
I know there is opposition to the Eagle but I seriously believe it is the ultimate symbol for imperialism. Obviously we will try to avoid making it look like the Nazi eagle but so many different imperialist states have used it as their symbol and it's all because of the Romans. I've done a bit of research so take a look at some the eagles used as symbols. I'm kind of intrigued by the two headed eagle because it's Ryerson and OCAD. It's just something to think about.
Looking at the image I forgot to put the American eagle lol. Imagine it in your head please.

its not that i am opposed to they symbol of the eagle, I realize that it is a very strongly imperial symbol...it just might be too strong and too blatant. There is no subtlety and mystery about it and it has been used very very often.
If everyone else likes the eagle it isn't an issue to me. It just might be beneficiary to think of other possibilities

Re: Symbol for logo
that's a good point about the orb. If we go with the eagle we absolutely need to think long and hard about what the eagle is holding. I agree that it's a strong symbol but I think if we modify it we can add depth and elements that will hold meaning for this particular event.
Re: Symbol for logo
that's a good possibility, it had crossed my mind too. I think Geoff should play around and see how things look.
Re: Symbol for logo
also for orbs which i was just reminded of, is that many people believe ghosts to appear in orb form (ghostly presence...which is what many of people's projects are trying to do...create an invisible presence)
